Abstract
The use and abuse of sites of former dictatorships in Europe raises many questions that define our relationship with the past. What do the sites of twentieth-century dictatorships tell us today? How can the historical analysis of the public and urban remnants of Fascism and Nazism contribute to new narratives of Europe? The conference will address these questions by a German-Italian discussion forum composed of historians from different generations and with different disciplinary expertise.
