What is less evident, however, is the way in which the research trips to archives abroad will contribute to the projects’ aims and what specific goals are to be achieved by using those sources. This particularly relates to the list of archives in the exposée of Unit 2. It should be specified which sources the researchers expect to find in the archives. Concerning Unit 3, the archives to be visited should be specified. |

| Tomaso Detti is a renowned expert in the fields of the history and historiography of the Labour movement and socialism. His growing interest in questions of historiography in general and the public uses of history is evidenced in his latest publications and makes him an apt principal coordinator in this respect. His collaboration in a joint research project throughout the last years make it highly likely that he will have no difficulty in preforming the required coordinating tasks.
His contribution to the project on a general level is no further specified, however, beyond his role as a principal investigator in Research Unit 1. Moreover, since the project on the whole focuses mostly on US and European history, his concentration on Italian history in the past may constitute too narrow an approach. |
